Aden Free Zone Customs levy YR 66 billion worth of revenues in 2014
[18/January/2015]

ADEN, Jan. 18 (Saba) - The Aden Free Zone Customs Unit levied more than YR 66 billion worth of revenues in 2014, of which YR 31,835,421,899 was customs fees and YR 34,167,401,634 in other revenues.

The levied total is 19% up from 2013. The total duty exemptions and settlement promises amounted to YR 11,141,697,289 . The unit director general Abdul-Hakeem al-Quabti attributed this rise in revenues to the active international shipping which the seaport is witnessing with the arrival of more container vessels from different world seaports.

In a statement to Saba, he said that 2014, the port authorities maintained a strong clampdown on merchandise smuggling and seized in the course of the anti-smuggling drive some 441 types of counterfeited goods and contrabands.
