SEIYUN.
[30/August/2004] Seiyun is one of the most important cities in Yemen. It is the major city in Hadhramout governorate some 1200 km away from the capital Sana’a. It had flourished as a capital for the wadi Hadhramout region in the 15 century AD.

The city of Seiyun was mentioned in the ancient sculptures of al- Musnad.
Classical Historians state that it was a major city for the dynasties
of Hadhramout, Hemyar, and Kandah.

Seiyun is very rich in its urban cultural heritage and famous for its attractive architectural style of the buildings. Houses built with straw-re-enforced clay bricks mostly consisting of 3-4 stories .

The city is surrounded by mountains and palm trees. Most prominent
features of this city are the old mosques and the Sultan\'s Palace.

Sultan Al Katheri Palace.
It is one of the most attractive and distinctive features in the country.
The building originally was a fort, afterwards it had been subjected to several modifications and taken as the headquarter of the Al-Katheri Sultanate.

The palace dates back in its present state to the late 20s of the past century. It consists of (16) buildings of raising up to34 meters high and 90 rooms. Part of it is used now as archaeological museum of traditions and customs as well as public library.

Tomb of Ahmed Bin Eisa the Emigran.
The tomb dates back to the 10th century AD and is 10 km to the east Seiyun.
It is one of the tourist attractions in due to its unique architectural style. Particularly, the architectural style of the Mosque in its Zigzag form and the white coat. .
