Bayt Al-Faqeeh.
[09/August/2004] It is a very significant town situated on the pilgrimage and trade route across Tehama plain. Some 50 km south of Al-Hodeida city, 260km western the capital Sana’a , on the modern Taiz- Hodeida road..

Bayt Al-Faqeeh was very well known as a center of many old-fashion artifacts. Most of the population there used to work in the weaving industry renown for the manufacture of head-cloths, as well as silver and gold Jewelry.

The region contains a number of fertile valleys such as Wadi Al-Jah and Wadi Al-Lawiya. Palm trees, tobacco and cereals are grown in this area.

The town is characterized by its unique architectural design and its wide variety of urban cultural heritage. There are several beautiful places like Al-Tayef, some 20 km west of Bayt Al-Faqeeh. It is an old port used for the export of salt, cereals and fish.

Bayt Al-Faqeeh also very famous for its traditional weekly Souqs. The Friday beautiful souq, established in the early 18th century as a trading point for coffee, is one of the most famous Yemeni weekly markets.
Traders from Egypt, Syria, Constantinople, Morocco, Iran, India and Europe came to the market of Bayt al-Faqih to purchase the coffee beans and ship them via the ports of al-Makha and Al-Hodeidah
