Yemen partakes in meeting of Asia-Pacific LDCs
[16/December/2014]
KATHMANDU, Dec. 16 (Saba) Yemen partakes in the ministerial meeting of Asia-Pacific Least Developed Countries (LDCs) group, which kicked off on Tuesday in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.

The meeting will discuss over three days topics on graduation and post-2015 development agenda.

At the meeting, Dr. Hameed al-Awadhi, undersecretary of foreign ministry for foreign affairs and head of Yemen's delegation, delivered a speech, in which he urged the international community to stand by the LDCs in all areas, especially the economic area.

Yemeni government has adopted a number of investment projects with a view to developing the infrastructure, in addition to a number of policies and economic reforms aiming at improving the economic situation, al-Awadhi said.

He added that Yemen has made good strides in this context, but the crises it faced recently, including the political crisis and the expansion of the circle of violence and conflict and terrorist acts, has led to deterioration of the economic situation in the country.

Al-Awadhi called on the donor countries and the international community to stand by Yemen to get out of these successive crises.
