SANA'A, May 08 (Saba) – The government is proceeding in the right track in implementing the Gulf initiative, a European Union (EU) senior official has said.
In a press conference held in Sana'a on Monday, Director for Middle East and North Africa in the EU Christian Berger noted the Military Affairs Committee is working in a good way in restructuring the security and military bodies.
Berger also said the EU supports the implementation of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism and the efforts of President Abdo Rabu Mansour Hadi as well for it is regarded as the appropriate way to achieve Yemenis' aspirations.
He affirmed the importance of continuing the remained phases of the initiative and addressing Yemen's challenges in the overall areas, particularly in security, economy and counterterrorism ones.
As the EU participated in Yemen supporting conference, it would also take part in Yemen friends' meeting and donors' conference, he said, asserting the EU would attend all meetings to be held in order to identify support demands for Yemen.
