ASSECAA praises Yemeni political settlement, peaceful power transition

BUJUMBURA, March 23 (Saba) – The sixth conference of the Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World(ASSECAA) praised on Friday the political settlement and peaceful power transition in Yemen.

This came in the final communiqué of the conference which concluded its proceedings on Friday evening in the Burundian capital, Bujumbura, with the participation of Shura Council Chairman Abdul-Rahman Othman and a number of the ASSECAA council's chairmen and members.

The conference valued the huge support of Shura Council in Yemen for ASSECAA and its general secretariat which adopted Sana'a as a permanent headquarters.

According to the speech of Shura chairman who affirmed the importance of activating economic cooperation , the council ratified to form a permanent committee concerned on economic affairs and efforts coordination in order to enhance the economic partnership among Afro-Arab countries.

The communiqué urged the member states to focus on developing woman role and promoting her participation in political and parliamentary areas.

It is worth to mention that the ASSECAA was established in the Yemeni capital Sanaa in 2004 during a meeting that was attended by 14 countries.
