SANA'A, April 18 (Saba)- Results of the 2011 HIV/AIDS report in Yemen and the world will be reviewed in a press symposium to be held next Wednesday in Sana'a.
The symposium is organized by Yemen News Agency (Saba), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the United Nations Information Center in Sana'a in cooperation with Yemen Ministry of Public Health and Population.
The report contains achievements and challenges of the world countries including Yemen in the global AIDS response to achieve universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, Coordinator of the UNAIDS Dr. Fawzia Ghramah made clear.
She added that the report will include efforts to implement the Declaration of Commitment and the Political Declaration on HIV (AIDS) for a complete cessation of new HIV infections, discrimination and mortality due to AIDS by 2015, as well as achieving the Millennium objectives to strengthen the response to cope with AIDS.
The report will be submitted to the UN General Assembly High Level Meeting on AIDS from 08 –10 June 2011 in New York, Dr. Ghramah referred.
Dr. Ghramah pointed that the symposium will be enriched with live testimonies of people living with the HIV and a broad participation of various media ,relevant government agencies, civil society organizations, youth and UN organizations working in Yemen.
