Tender monitoring committee, WB discuss cooperation in transparency

SANA'A, Nov. 03 (Saba) - The Supreme Tender Monitoring Committee and the World Bank discussed on Tuesday aspects of cooperation in field of promoting transparency and combating corruption.

The meeting, held between the committee chairman Abdul-Malek al-Arshi and Lead Private Sector Development Specialist in the Finance and Private Sector Unit of the Middle East and North Africa Region of the WB Andrew H. W. Stone, dealt with aspects of support provided by the WB for the committee, particularly in the information and procurement fields.

Al-Arshi reviewed the committee's main tasks for enhancing the principle of transparency in the work of tenders and auctions as well as developing its policy and legislation.

For his part, Stone praised all steps taken by Yemen in the economic reforms field, in general, and in monitoring tenders and combating corruption, in particular.

He also affirmed the importance of the committee in combating faults during carrying out tenders.
