Women's Shadow Parliament begins its 2nd training course

SANA'A, Feb. 01 (Saba) - Women's Shadow Parliament began on Sunday in Sana'a its second training course in lobbying and advocacy field which lasts for three days.

Twenty participants of Women's Shadow Parliament's members in the course will receive training on advocacy and lobbying skills and means of communication with societies for lobbying women issues.

The Head of National Committee for Women (NCW) Rashidah al-Hamdani praised the civil society contributions in supporting increasing the women participation in the political life. She reviewed the different challenges the women face when nominating for election.

Al-Hamdani highlighted the significance of exerting pressure on the political parties to support women and implementing the quota system to assure an actual participation of women in the coming election, emphasizing the course's importance in forming a field work teams to increase the lobbying and advocacy which will contribute in woman success in the elections.

For his part, the Head of Democracy School Jamal al-Shami cited that the women willing to nominate themselves should avail from their previous election's experiences and support the other women regardless of their political trends.

The training course comes within the Women's Shadow Parliament Project, which is implemented by the Democracy School in collaboration with the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), al-Shami added.
