3rd regional training for human rights and media activists wraps up

SANA'A, Dec. 26 (Saba) - The third regional training course on capacity building for human rights and media activists in Yemen and the Gulf States has wrapped up.

The five-day training, which was organized by the Information and Training Center for Human Rights in collaboration with the Foundation for the Future, involved 36 participants from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan.

The trainees were trained in establishing regional networks and coalitions, ways  to protect human rights defenders and how they can conduct governmental and non-governmental reports.

The training focused much on the role of  the civil society in conducting reports on human rights in an effort to spread the concepts of democracy and human rights, head of the civil society division at the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission SNAAC Ezz al-Din al-Asbahi said.

For her part, director of the programs of the Foundation for the Future in Yemen Abeer Dagestani said the training was implemented within the support provided by the foundation for initiatives of the civil society aiming at introducing  reform principles and promoting democracy and practical respect of human rights in the MENA region.
