SANA'A, Oct 20 (Saba) – The Democratic School will implement next Tuesday in the district of Damt in al-Dhale province a workshop within the framework of the second phase of a project aimed at raising awareness among youth about civil and political rights.
The workshop would be implemented in collaboration with the International Foundation for Election Systems IFES, with funding from the UN Democracy Fund.
The second phase of the project will involve 200 youth trainees from the provinces of al-Dhale, Ibb, Dhamar, Hadramout and the Secretariat Capital.
Head of the Democratic School Jamal al-Shami said the project includes seven workshops implemented in a number of districts in target provinces as well as distributing publications on civil and political rights.
He noted that the project is designed to train youths in the principles of community participation, civil rights and responsibilities and ways to deal with local officials.
Every three-day workshop ends with proposed activities that would be implemented by participants later at districts to show their understanding of topics related to voluntary and social work they learnt during the workshops and to show their interest in community participation.
The second phase will take a month and a half.
