Yemen democratic experience is in progress, says al-Eryani
[27/August/2008]

WASHINGTON, Aug. 27 (Saba) – President Ali Abdullah Saleh's political advisor Abdul-Karim al-Eryani said that Yemen witnesses progress in its democratic experience.

During his meeting here with Germany's Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer and U.S former Foreign Minister Madeleine Albright, al-Eryani said that the upcoming parliament elections in April would be a good example of the successful democratic experience in Yemen.

On the sidelines of the US Democratic National Convention, al-Eryani reviewed with Fischer and Albright Yemen's cooperation relations with both Germany and the United States.

They also discussed the challenges facing democracy and politic reforms, confirming the necessity of respecting the independence of justice.

Al-Eryani is representing the ruling General People Congress (GPC) party in the US Democratic National Convention that is about to nominate its first black candidate for president.

Yemen's participation in the Democratic National Convention was in response to an invitation offered by the U.S. presidential candidate for the November elections Barack Obama.
