SANA'A, July 17 (Saba) - Preparations are underway to launch the fifth Yemeni satellite channel that will be dedicated to air local, Arab and international news, the weekly state-run 26 September reported on Thursday.
Director General of the Yemeni General Corporation of Radio and TV Abdullah al-Zalab told the weekly that the corporation has begun carrying out technical procedures including forming specialized committees and the technical, programmatic and legal task forces to identify the technical equipment needs and put them out to a tender to be announced soon.
The channel would be the Yemeni window to the world and would be interested in the local and international news that would be re-produced according to a Yemeni perspective, al-Zalab said, noting that it would depend on a network of correspondents in all the Yemeni provinces and in Arab capitals and major international countries.
He made clear that the channel will be broadcasted all over the day by some languages, of which are English and French, to demonstrate events and activities take place in the country as well as to correct distorted information aired by the foreign media outlets about Yemen.
