U.S. confirms preventing Yemenis chewing Qat to enter its territories

SANA'A, May 09 (Saba)- Expatriates Affairs Minister Saleh Sumia'a has held talks with the U.S. consul in Sana'a on fields of cooperation relations between Yemen and the U.S. and means to establish a database of Yemeni expatriates working in the U.S.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed a U.S. decision preventing Yemenis chewing Qat to enter the US only after medical examinations.

The U.S. consul confirmed that the decision taken by his country like the European Union countries, pointing out that it will not target the Yemeni expatriates only, but qat chewers wherever they are in the world.

He said that the decision is limited to the residents in the United States, excluding whose come to America for tourism and official missions.

The U.S. consul expressed his country's willingness to cooperate with Yemen to create a database of the Yemeni expatriates in the United States.
