RIYADH, Jan. (Saba)- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul-Rahman al-Attiyah pointed to the imminent accession of Yemen as a seventh state in GCC.
The Saudi al-Jazeera daily quoted al-Attiyah as saying that the Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul-Azizi's initiative to the GCC leaders to accept Yemen's accession in the Gulf council was approved by all the leaders.
Al-Attiyah confirmed that the secretariat of GCC is currently considering the initiative and it would present its report to the leaders to join Yemen to GCC as an effective member.
