[06/August/2007] SANA'A, (Saba)- The Japanese government has decided to
allocate around $4 million to fund projects in Yemen through World
Bank and Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) as well as
financing activities of the United Nations High Commission for
Refugees (UNHCR) in Yemen.
In its statement, the Japanese embassy pointed out to the projects
that are funded by Japan in Yemen such as the project of developing
port cities at 550,000 dollars through the WB, and agricultural
project in high regions of Yemen at 780,000 dollars as well as
project of combating locusts in central regions of the country at
900,000 dollars through the FAO.
Japan also contributes to funding UNHCR program in Yemen with 1
million dollars to offer protection for refugees in Yemen.
The statement also pointed out other projects funded by the Japanese
government, especially in fields of health and education.
