Iraq Car Bomb Kills American Activist
[18 April 2005] BAGHDAD,(Saba) - An American humanitarian worker, identified as Marla Ruzicka, was killed in a blast that occurred on Saturday at Baghdad International Airport road, which also killed her driver and Czech security guard and injured five others, spokesman for the US embassy said.

At 28, she had traveled to Africa to work on AIDS issues, to Cuba to protest the U.S. embargo and to Afghanistan after the U.S.-led war there.

The blond-haired activist with a cherubic face and infectious smile was a one-woman campaign against human suffering who was instrumental in securing millions of dollars in aid for distribution in Iraq.

With this, the number of activists killed in Iraq reached six, including a British and four Americans.
