U.S. Embassy further supports Yemeni civil society
[19 April 2005] SANA'A, April 17 (Saba)- As part of its efforts to support Yemeni civil society, the U.S. embassy in Sana'a has held two workshops for training Yemeni MPs in PC use and NGOs insiders in proposal concepts and writing techniques.
The Information Resource Centre of the embassy, the University of Technology and the National Democratic Institute held the two-day workshop this on "Basic Concepts of Information Technology" as part of the IRC's PC Literacy Training program. The workshop was offered to members of parliament, parliament committee staff and personnel.

The IRC also conducted a two-day workshop on "Proposal Writing and Submission Techniques" for female civil society activists this week.
The workshop centred on the first module of the IRC-developed "Becoming the Source in Resource" training program hosted by the University of Technology in Sana'a.

Twenty-five female participants took part in the training, which as conducted by the IRC Director, Hisham al-Omeisi. The participants came from a variety of civil society backgrounds, including NGOs, political parties, journalism, academia and government.
