[07/February/2005] Al-Thaw rah, the national daily its editorial came out under the headline " Ideal Means for Encountering Terrorism". The paper talked about the Yemeni Initiative submitted to the International conference on fighting the terrorism being held in the Saudi capital AL-Riyadh.
The initiative called for drawing a security strategy ought to be designed by the whole countries in the region. This suggestion based on Yemen's experience in combating the terrorism.

The paper went on saying the Yemeni leadership led by President Ali Abdullah Saleh has adopted the strategic options for addressing the problem of extremism and terrorism due to its own experience in fighting terrorism. Yemen was the first country in the world which suffered from the terrorist acts many years before the September11 events.

Al-Thaw rah added that ever since the early days of the international campaign for fighting terrorism, Yemeni leadership had called for holding an international conference on the terrorism so as to define the conception of terror and find out the practical mechanisms for encountering it.

The paper's editorial came to say that the republic of Yemen has been embarking on combating terrorism through several measures. It has adopted the strategic option includes eradicating the economic and cultural reasons which used to create an ideal environment for terrorism. In addition to the above option, Yemeni government has been actively participating in the international efforts aiming at getting ride of this plight.
