[20/June/2004] Al-Thowrah , leading national daily newspaper, focused its editorial on the first Conference of Islamic Guidance which kicked off its activities here in the capital Sana’a .

The paper pined hopes on the participants efforts who should play a key role in demonstrating the genuine image of Islam and keeping the generations of Islamic nation away from fanaticism and extremism.

The editorial stated that “ the most important at this moment is that Islamic nation clerics ought to embark on practical mechanisms could help molding a moderate religious curricula and developing the Mosque’s role in encountering the terrorism phenomenon”.

Al-Thowrah added “ there is no other way to eradicate this plight, referring to terrorism, but the religious and intellectual elite must undertake their responsibility in this area . Clergies have to make it clear that terrorism is abnormal phenomenon and it isn’t of the virtues of Islam.

The paper went on saying the significance of this conference is attributed to the issues due to be addressed , nevertheless, the conference would provide the clerics chance for dialogue and debating over various topics and challenges are facing the Islamic nations.
Al –Thowrah concluded its editorial saying “ organizing the conference here in Yemen came due to the political leadership keenness to get the clergies and preachers involved in encountering terrorism.
