Yemen's Eco-Tourism Attractions.
[12 June 2004] Yemen has got a wide variety of ecotourism attractions make it one of the best ecotourism destinations in the world. It is characeterized by its unspoiled beautiful beaches that stretch along side the Red Sea and Arab Sea with a 2000kms distance.

There are about (113) islands, large number of them, are very rich with rare Eco-diversities, such as, Soctara Archipelago , Kamaran Island, and Hunaish Archipelago. Yemen isles have great deal of tourist potentials on top of which is hiking, fishing, swimming and climbing mountains.

Yemeni ecotourism attractions offer a heaven-sent chance for , studying rare fauna and flora, swimming and Scuba Diving in the surrounding marine areas. Visitors can enjoy watching coral reefs, color fish, and other rare indigenous marine lives such as (Mangrove Trees, Giant Tortoises, rare species of Sharks, Dolphins and so on).
Visitors also can go watching over (360) spies of wild birds including (13) endemic in the mainland and (6) in Soctara island)…etc.

Natural attractions also spread in different regions in Yemen such as High Mountains with beautiful emerald Terraces (grown with Coffee, barely corn, grapes, fogs and many other Yemeni original grains and fruits).

The highest Mountain is Jabal Al-Nabi Shouyab , raising about (3660) meters above sea level. It is considered to be the highest peak in the Arabian Peninsula. The country contains several green Valleys with fascinating water falls, run off water and Mineral Hot Spas.

There are also Plains (e.g. Tehama Plain extends along the Yemeni coast of the Red Sea) and deserts e.g.( Al Roub Al Khali Desert in the eastern part of the country and Ramlat Al Saba'tain Desert) in Hadaramout.

Yemen has a climatic diversities therefore a visitor gets surprised with this unique climate as he/she feels, during trips throughout the territory , with four seasons in one visit.

The weather is moderate in the Middle Plateau - the temperature is between 25c and 30c and cool in the Central Highlands - the temperature is less than 20c and hot in the Plains and Deserts- the temperature is between 35c and about 42c.

Eco-tourists could acquire unforgettable experiences and knowledge through several ecotouristical activities and visitations to these unique, unspoiled and undisturbed ecotourism attractions in Yemen.

Two natural areas declared legally to be protected areas for their rare undisturbed natural Eco- diversity such as Socotra Island in the Arabian Sea and Autma district in Dhamar Governorate, some (127km) south Of the capital Sana’a.
There are many other regions are due to be declared as natural protected areas in the country such as Jebel Bura’a, Shahara, Eraf and Sharma.
