SANA'A- Yemeni people is celebrating on the 14th anniversary of Yemeni unification in time of activities of Sana'a Arab Cultural Capital 2004.
Certainly, Yemeni unification contributed to drawing the future of the country and enhancing democracy and cultural activities.
The unification also extended horizons of opinion express freedom, human rights and spreading democratic awareness among the people.
The activities of Sana'a Arab cultural Capital 2004 included till now Arab -French poetic meeting, meeting of civilizations dialogue, and meeting of Arab-German novel, meeting of Arab young poets, symposiums on Yemeni history between writing and documentation, first fair of Yemeni documents, festival of Yemeni song, cultural
festivals in many governorates and Arab and Islamic cultural weeks.
All these activities confirmed Yemen's position in Arab cultural map as the Arab media means reflected that in writings, analysis, articles and views of Arab and foreign authors and thinkers.
These activities focused on cultural topics and literature that enriched the Arab culture.
"In the beginning it was dialogue" was a gathering focused on human culture and creativity and insisted human being freedom and dignity as main principles that should not be harmed by race, religion or geography.
During the gathering, Arab and German thinkers formed a new contact in changeable world between those who believe in respecting culture of human being and those who market the culture of killing. The participants in the gathering entirely rejected the culture of violence.
All these activities pointed out to the initial subjects such as democracy, human rights, justice, fighting terror, discrimination and violence.
Most of these activities tried to create ties between west and east according to principle of respecting each other and exchanging knowledge and dialogue of civilizations.
The reality of culture says that Yemen ranks advanced position in field of culture as the poetic festivals reached the third grade of activities organized by official and local foundations due to plentiful cultural production.
Statistics pointed out that the number of cultural activities reached ahead step during the previous period.
The year of inserting Sana'a among Arab cultural capitals formed practical beginning to serve culture in Yemen and lead the concerned bodies to focus their concern on putting plans and programs to bring this occasion into success.
The main plan of the Sana'a Arab Cultural Capital 2004 includes two pivots: first pivot focused on cultural infrastructure and the second pivot focused on cultural activities during the year through holding artistic shows, poetic nights, and hosting hundreds of Arab songs and thinkers to participate in these activities.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Khaled Al-Rowaishan said these activities aim at protecting cultural heritage of the country, pointing out to the importance of forming committee to follow up these activities.
The minister added that the current activities attracted the attention of the majority of people who concern about theater, music and movies.
The cultural policy forms one of the key references that measure the level of development of culture, and there is a need for renewing strategy of cultural development and opening new doors that meet with requirements and changes of the current era.
