[11/January/2004]

SANA'A, Jan 11 (Saba)- Chairman of Bahraini Shura Council Fisal Ridha
Al-Musawi stated that he hoped the Conference would result in recommendations
that would contribute to establishing the concepts of democracy and human
rights in our area. He said that the Bahraini participation in the Conference
was to present the Bahraini experience established by the national work
constitution launched in 2002 by King Hamad Al-Khalifa. He added that
democracy is not mere organizations or elections, but it is to practice
and respect individual freedom and essential rights, to raise the Rule
of Law, to neutrally participate in making the political decision, and
to enable woman positively participate in development and elections.
Al-Musawi stated that Sana'a Regional Conference would undoubtedly be
the fertile context for exchanging opinions, presenting experiences, and
discussing when democracy and human rights lead issues of the Conference.
He stated that Bahrain supports international efforts exerted for the
sake of laying the foundation stone for security and peace throughout
the world through highlighting principles of democracy and human rights,
and that they support UN resolutions concerned and the Palestinian struggle
