SANAA, Sept. 12 (Saba) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met on Wednesday with Resident Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Sanaa Dr. Al-Obaid Ahmed Al-Obaid.
In the meeting, the minister handed al-Obaid a letter to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, on the occasion of assuming her new position.
In the letter, Sharaf called on Bachelet to visit Yemen to see the reality of the situation and brief the international community on the flagrant violations committed by Saudi-led coalition forces in the country.
Sharaf confirmed readiness to cooperate with Bachelet in order to protect and enhance the human rights in Yemen and to bring just peace to the Yemeni people.
He also expressed the national salvation government's appreciation for the efforts made by the former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Al-Hussein.
During the meeting, the foreign minister also handed a letter to Bachelet and President and members of the Human Rights Council on a report of the results reached by the regional and international expert team.
