European Union reaffirms its commitment to Yemen unity, independence

SANAA, June 26 (Saba) - The European Union reiterated its commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence of Yemen.



The recommendations of the Council on Foreign Affairs of the European Union in its meeting on Yemen on Monday confirmed that there cannot be a military solution to the conflict in Yemen

The recommendations referred to the European Union's support for the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Martin Griffiths , and to his efforts to reach a political and comprehensive solution to the conflict.



the European Union expressed his concern about recent developments, which would jeopardize UN-led efforts to resume negotiations on a political solution to the conflict, called on all parties to stop the current escalation and work urgently towards a ceasefire and constructive engagement with the United Nations in this regard.



The European Union also reiterated that it would maintain contact with all parties to the conflict and would remain ready to work more in Yemen, including providing humanitarian assistance to all people in the country and provide of development assistance to fund projects in main sectors
