As 16 schoolgirls killed, UN condemns violence in Yemen
[17/December/2014]

NEW YORK, Dec. 17 (Saba) – The United Nations (UN) has condemned the violence that affects children in Yemen, where 16 school girls were killed on Tuesday in a car bombing in Radaa city, Bayda province.

"The attack on the schoolchildren on Tuesday in Yemen and other countries aroused a great sadness and must not be allowed to continue", the UN said in a statement.

The education is a right for every child and this right must not be neglected for the favor of the political violence, the statement added.

In the statement, the UN expressed its condolences and its great sympathy for the families of children who died in Radaa attack.

Two car bombings targeted on Tuesday a school bus and a group of civilians in Radaa city, Bayda province. The attacks claimed lives of 16 young girls and 10 civilians, in addition to a number of injured people.

UNICEF revealed in recent statistics that 138 children have been killed or maimed by the conflict in Yemen in 2014 before this incident.
