SANA'A, Nov.25(Saba)- Yemen and UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed on Tuesday a grant agreement worth $ 0.5 million to fund a project supporting small-scale dairy producers in Hodeida province.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Farid Mujawar and FAO representative in Yemen Dr. Salah Hassan.
The project aims to improve nutrition the standard of living for poor families in the targeted areas in Hodeida through increasing the productivity of dairies and providing job opportunities.
On sidelines of the agreement signature, Mujawar and Hassan discussed the bilateral cooperation aspects between Yemen and FAO, as well as the support areas for the agricultural sector development as an important resource for the food security.
Mujawar valued FAO's contribution to supporting the agricultural development paths in Yemen, expressing his hope for further support to his ministry's plans to revive the agricultural sector activities.
For his part, Hassan confirmed the organization's readiness to support the agricultural sector and its seeking to expand the agricultural projects that contribute to improving the living conditions especially in the rural areas of greatest need for food security.
