Talks with Canadian Nexen were positive: Deputy Oil minister
[10/September/2014]

SANA'A, Sep.10(Saba)– Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Salem Ba-Suraih on Wednesday described the talks with Canadian Nexen Company, the former operator of Block 14 in Hadramout province, as positive.

In a statement to Saba upon his return with the negotiating delegation from Paris, Ba-Suraih said that the talks with the company dealt with the custom and tax data relating to the Block 14, noting that the proceedings would be completed by the legal representatives of both parties.

With regard to the environmental pollution in block 14 in Hadramout resulting from the company, Ba-Suraih said that the file was referred to the international justice and that the arbitration proceedings are ongoing in a positive way.

He expected in this regard that the arbitration results would be in favor of Yemeni government.
