[19/August/2014]

SANA'A, Aug.19 (Saba)- Finance Minister Mohamed Zemam discussed on Tuesday with ambassadors of French and Britain and the U.S. Charge d'Affaires the overall economic and financial reforms taken by Yemeni government.

At the meeting, Zemam reviewed the reforms recently have been taken by the government as an urgent action to stop the economic and financial deterioration and maintain the gains achieved by Yemen at the level of the political settlement and the success of the national dialogue conference (NDC), as well as the accompanying measures and the challenges faced by the government.

The minister hailed the continuous support provided by the donor countries and organizations in support of the democracy and the political, security and economic stability in Yemen.

Zemam said that the Yemeni street is the one who is pressing today on the government to implement the comprehensive reforms and that the government is serious in the reforms implementation more than ever.

He pointed at the same time to the importance of raising the ceiling of the international and regional support for the national economic reforms program in order to mitigates the effects of the oil derivatives prices correction on the living conditions of the poor and low-income people ,social groups, professions and economic activities.

"Supporting projects of the government investment program and expanding the social protection programs should be at the forefront of the areas of support provided by friendly countries and donor organizations for the Yemeni people", Zemam said.

For their part, the ambassadors confirmed that the international community always stands by Yemen and the national reforms, noting that this support is increasing with credibility and seriousness of the government in the implementation.
