Yemen signs MoU to build solar power plant

SANA'A, April 26 (Saba) - Minister of Electricity Saleh Sumai has signed in New Delhi with Bharat company of India a memorandum of understanding to build a solar-powered electricity plant in Yemen.

The plant's cost, $ 100 million, is provided as a soft loan from the Indian government to Yemen.

The energy produced by the solar-powered plant amounting to 60 megawatts will be distributed to the capital, province of the Socotra archipelago and the island of Kamaran in Hodeida province.

According to the MoU, the time period for the completion of the station has been specified between 10 to 12 months, after its approval by the official authorities and in accordance with the legislations in force in the Republic of Yemen.
