SANA’A, Oct.30 (Saba)- Acting Chairman of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums Muhannad Ahmed al-Sayani met on Tuesday with the Russian archaeological mission headed by Professor Alexander Sedov.
At the meeting, the mission reviewed its work program in the Socotra archipelago, including the archaeological excavations on the north shore of the archipelago near the settlement of (Gehlh) as well as the registration and documentation of archaeological samples, folklore and dialect of Socotra.
It will also conduct a archaeological survey in the area (Kush) in the western part of Socotra, in which the mission has already conducted a partial survey in the previous season, 2010.
The head of the mission expressed his happiness to continue the work of the Mission in the Socotra archipelago, praising the efforts of the Antiquities Authority to facilitate the task of the Russian scientific mission with the participation of Yemeni experts.
He expressed the hope that the works of the mission will result in new scientific discoveries.
