President arrives in Washington, holds talks with U.S. officials

SANA’A, Sep.28 (Saba)- President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi arrived Thursday evening in Andrews Air Force Base on the outskirts of the U.S. capital, Washington, to continue his visit program in the U.S.

Upon his arrival in Washington, President Hadi visited the White House, where he met with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, and Deputy National Security Adviser and Assistant to President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Affairs, John Brennan.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of joint cooperation and bilateral relations between Yemen and the U.S. ,as well as the developments at the Yemeni arena and the efforts being made for the success of the historic political settlement.

The President reviewed the decisions and steps that have been done on the way of the implementation of the Gulf initiative and its operational mechanism.

The U.S. Vice President praised the exceptional steps taken by President Hadi, especially at the peak of the Yemeni crisis and his auspices of the peaceful transition of power, describing them as important and historical steps for the delivery of Yemen to safety.

Biden pointed out that the U.S. government will do what is important and necessary for the success of the political process in Yemen.

The President then completed discussions with John Brennan, with the participation of a number of the U.S. National Security Council members.
