Yemen Friends meeting concludes its session works

NEW YORK, Sep 27 (Saba) –The 4th meeting of the Friends of Yemen that held in New York concluded its session work with the attending of more than 39 governments and Arab, regional and international organizations. 

The final communiqué of the meeting considered that the meeting embodies the international support for the democratization process existing in Yemen led by President Abdo Rabu Mansour Hadi, and in accordance with the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism. 

The communiqué noted that the regional and international countries and donors have agreed on the significance of supporting the efforts of the Yemeni government aiming to accelerate achievements in the political, economic, humanitarian and security sides. 

It pointed out to the obligations presented by the Yemeni government and its development partners in the donors' meeting to reaffirm their partnership in the process of transition witnessed in Yemen. 

The additional funding commitments that have been announced on Thursday in New York's meeting were also included in the communiqué, asserting the importance of accelerating to allocate and implement the stated obligations by the Yemeni government and donors. 

The final statement also valued the efforts of Yemeni government within a framework of mutual responsibility with donors which defines the commitments of both sides in order to ensure that the additional funds will work to serve the Yemeni people interests. 

It urged the International Monetary Fund to continue providing more support to stabilize the Yemeni macroeconomic, welcoming the imminent accession of Yemen to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Finally, it was agreed to hold the fifth meeting of Friends of Yemen in coming March to review the progress made in the implementation of the outcome of Riyadh donors' meeting and the fourth meeting of Yemen Friends.
