RIYADH, Sep. 04 (Saba) - A group of countries and international and regional donor organizations pledged $6.4 billion to Yemen in the Riyadh donor organization started on Tuesday.
The grants dedicate to support the transitional program for development and stability for 2012 – 2014.
A number of countries and donor organizations vowed to announce their financial aid during the Friends of Yemen meeting to be held in September in New York.
In the conclusion meeting, Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa voiced his appreciation of the donor countries and organizations, expressing his optimistic that the others would announce their grants in the coming meeting.
He vowed the government's commitment to continue to combat corruption and improve the transparent mechanisms and aid absorption capacities to create the desired changes and social and economic development.
The Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf expected new pledges to be announced in Friends of Yemen meeting in New York, stressing the importance of accelerating the commitments' implementation.
