Bin Omar: UN will continue to support Yemen
[13/July/2012]
SAAN'A, July 13 (Saba)- Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen, Jamal bin Omar, has confirmed that the United Nations will continue to support Yemen for the success of the transitional phase.

In a press conference held on Thursday evening, bin Omar pointed out that the transitional process in Yemen is still in its path to some extent.

Bin Omar added that there are four key steps should be done according to the deal of power transfer in November 2011, which are the preparation for the national dialogue conference, holding the conference, a new constitution , and conducting new elections according to the new constitution.

He stressed the importance of all parties' participation in the national dialogue conference, as it is the key of the transitional process in Yemen, noting that the national dialogue is the only allowed means for all parties to express their opinion on the shape of the new Yemen.

There are another important steps should be taken to push forward the transitional process, including the creation of a new elections commission, restructuring the army and issuing the transitional justice law, bin Omar said.

The UN's official affirmed that the Security Council is closely watching the situation in Yemen, and there is no tolerance with those who tray to hamper the path of the transitional process.
