US to continue security and economic aid to Yemen: Burns says
[09/July/2012]

SANA'A, July 09 (Saba) - U.S. Undersecretary of State stressed Monday that his country would continue its political, security and economic aid to Yemen.

"Yemen can rely on the long-term friendship with the U.S.," William Burns said during his meeting with President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

"We realize how big are the challenges you have overcome and the ones that you have not yet," Burns said, expressed confidence that all the goals of Yemen's security and stability would be achieved completely.

He conveyed the President Barack Obama's congratulations to President Hadi on the great achievements of the implementation of the Gulf initiative as well as the victory against al-Qaeda in Abyan province.

President Hadi reviewed the accomplished steps under the Gulf initiative, stressing "the tough situations have been mostly tackled, in spite of some difficulties."

Hadi said the arrangements were underway for holding the comprehensive national dialogue that would discuss all the issues that concern Yemen and its future. He valued highly the support of the U.S. for Yemen in all areas.
