Germany allocates € 77 mln to support Yemen

BONN, July 05 (Saba) – The German government announced on Thursday the allocation of € 77 million to prop up Yemen during the current transitional period.

This came by the German official charged with Middle East cooperation at the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development during signing the developmental cooperation minutes with Planning and International Cooperation Minister Mohammed al-Saadi at the ministry's headquarter in the German city, Bonn.

According to the cooperation minutes, the foresaid amount will be allocated to support Yemen technically and financially in the coming phase in fields of water, health, education, food security, good governance and social protection network.

Al-Saadi praised the contribution of Germany in supporting efforts exerted by Government of National Reconciliation aiming at ensuring the political and security stability as well as improving the Yemeni economy indicators.

For his part, the German official expressed the satisfaction of the German government over the Yemeni model in overcoming its political crisis witnessed in the past year, 2011.
