Hadi meets permanent members of UN Security Council

SANA'A, May 30 (Saba) – President Abdo Rabu Mansour Hadi met here on Wednesday with Ambassadors of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the ongoing developments in the political settlement according to the Gulf initiative and its mechanism and the UN Security Council Resolution 2014.

After welcoming the ambassadors, President Hadi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the ambassadors in coordination with the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s states in order to overcome Yemen's critical conditions occurred in 2011.

The President noted to the consequences of the crisis, particularly at the security, political and economic levels, affirming that the Gulf initiative is the appropriate way for the peaceful transition of power.

" After the forming of liaison committee, we are working on to stabilize the country's conditions in order to hold the comprehensive national dialogue," Hadi said.

The meeting also touched on the outcomes of the UN Security Council meeting held on Tuesday, and the report of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General's Political Advisor Gamal bin Omar and the statement of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon relating to the need to exerte more efforts in order to succeeding the political settlement in Yemen based on the initiative and its mechanism as well as the 2014-resolution.

The ambassadors talked about the nature of cooperation to be carried out for succeeding the political resolution in Yemen, asserting their countries' full support to cooperate with Yemen in the political settlement.

The American ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein hailed the efforts of President Hadi in settling the situation in the country, noting to the huge challenges impeding to step forward towards addressing Yemen's problems.

He also called all political sides in the Yemeni arena to cooperate in implementing the national dialogue successfully.

Meanwhile, the Russian ambassador to Yemen Sergei Koslov made reference to Yemen Friends' conference and to the efforts exerted to be succeeded, confirming that the international community is standing beside Yemen and supporting it.

The Chinese ambassador to Yemen Liu Denglin expressed his appreciation for the achievements done in the process of political resolution and at the security and economic levels as well.

The representative of the United Kingdom (UK)'s embassy asserted the support of Britain in the settlement path, pointing out to the participation of the UK in Yemen Friends' conference and in all regional and international events concerning Yemen.

For his part, the French ambassador to Yemen Frank Julie went further with saying that President Hadi has the total right in making decisions that regarded as a recourse to assisting Yemen to come out its difficulties.

The international community will stand beside Yemen till attaining its aimed goals required for the transitional phase, Julie said.
