France, Saudi Arabia praise results of Yemen friends meeting
[28/May/2012]

PARIS, May 28 (Saba) - French Foreign Ministry's spokesman praised the results of the ministerial meeting of friends of Yemen held last Wednesday in Riyadh.

In a press release, Bernard Valero said that "this meeting is an important step for Yemen and the international community," pointing that it has coincided with the involvement of Yemen in the peaceful political transition of power.

The meeting was an important occasion for the international community to express their full support for Yemen and also for the Yemeni government to show its reform initiatives and programs, Valero said.

The various challenges faced by Yemen would impact all the region's countries, he said, reiterating the French full commitment to support the political transition in Yemen.

France intends to share in the international assistance in the field of democratic transition as well as in economic and social development and the security restoration, Valero said.

"France will provide assistance to Yemen in the reform of the constitution and electoral law."

He stressed his country's keenness to stand by Yemen in addressing the enormous humanitarian challenges, especially in combating malnutrition.

"France provides financial aid for the international organizations, such as WFP and UNICEF, for distributing additional foodstuffs, which will benefit around 32,000 children," Valero said.

In related context, the Saudi cabinet hailed on Monday the positive outcomes of the ministerial meeting of friends of Yemen.

In its weekly meeting chaired by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, praised the confirmations of the participated delegations of supporting Yemen's unity and sovereignty in addition to achieving the development goals.
