President Hadi meets U.S. Congress delegation

SANA'A, May 24 (Saba) - President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi met here on Thursday with U.S. Congress delegation headed by Steve Chabot Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia, visiting Yemen currently.

During the meeting, the President reviewed a number of ongoing developments and achievements of the political settlement under the Gulf initiative and its Executive mechanism backed by the UN resolution 2014.

Hadi indicated to the Yemen's suffering from terrorism, particularly the heinous criminal incident in al-Sabin Square, which claimed the lives of over 90 soldiers at a rehearsal for a military parade was to be held on the occasion of 22nd anniversary of the National Day.

The President also pointed to the several problems Yemen faces, topped by unemployment in addition to others in the security and political, economic areas, stressing the need for full cooperation by the United States and the international community in solve them.

For his part, U.S. Congressman Steve Chabot extended heartfelt condolences to the families of al-Sabin Square explosion's victims, expressing the U.S. condemnation of "this shameful act" which affirms the need for cooperation in order to eliminate terrorism.

He stressed that the United States would continue to support and help Yemen to make the transition completely succeed in accordance with the Gulf initiative and UN resolution 2014.
