Interior Minister meets US ambassador, British military official
[20/May/2012]

SANA'A, May 20 (Saba) - Interior Minister Abdul-Qader Qahtan met here on Sunday with US ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein.

Qahtan and Feierstein discussed the ongoing preparations for Yemen Friends meeting to be held in Riyadh on May 24, in addition to security cooperation between Yemen and the U.S.

On the other hand, the Interior Minister held talks with Director of Middle East and North Africa at the British Ministry of Defence General Jim Hawk Kinh on the security cooperation relations between Yemen and Britain, especially on the fight against terrorism and organized crime.

During the meeting, Qahtan said that the government's now top priority is to completely eradicate terrorism from Yemen, reviewing the efforts and victories made by the various military and security units coupled with the popular committees in the fight against al-Qaeda, whom has been defeated from most areas of Abyan province.

For his part, Gen. Kinh expressed his government's readiness to provide more assistance and support necessary for the Yemeni security authorities in technological and training fields.

The British official praised the successes achieved by the security and military authorities of Yemen in the fight against terrorism and its militants.
