Cabinet supports Taiz leadership steps to restore security

TAIZ, May 03 (Saba) - The cabinet confirmed Thursday its full support for the local authority leadership in Taiz governorate in all the steps taken to tackle the security file and restore stability.

This came in an extraordinary meeting of the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa in Taiz with the participation of the leadership of the local and executive authorities.

It expressed understanding of all the governorate's demands and urgent needs, stressing the importance of enhancing the security situation and the need to accelerate implementing the vital projects of water, development, infrastructure and public services in addition to overcoming the consequences of last year crisis.

The cabinet ordered the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, in coordination with Taiz Governor to take the necessary measures to allocate $15 million of donor funding to carry out the water desalination plant and $10 million to implement the expansion and rehabilitation of the Mocha port.

It also set up a committee headed by Defense Minister to study the current security situation in the governorate and to take the necessary measures for reinforcing the security bodies performance and to submit its report on the outcomes, executive procedures and recommendations to the cabinet in a month.
