Yemen, Germany discuss counterterrorism cooperation

SANA'A, April 21 (Saba) - Yemen and Germany discussed here on Saturday the joint cooperation in areas of counterterrorism, coastguard support and aid hampered due to the last year crisis.

This came during a meeting gathered Interior Minister Abdul-Qader Qahtan and German ambassador to Yemen Holger Green.

Qahtan praised the Germany's support to the Interior Minister and its security bodies, especially the Yemeni coastguard with equipment and training required to raise its capacities to protect the Yemeni territorial waters from sea piracy, terrorism and sneaking from the Horn of Africa.

For his part, the German ambassador hailed the progress of the security achievements under the Gulf initiative, pointing the Germany's keenness to support Yemen in various fields, particularly the fight against terrorism.

Green expressed his country's readiness to resume its assistance and support in training programs and marine equipment to ensure the Yemeni coastguard's capability to combat sea piracy and control smuggling and infiltrators along the Yemeni coast.
