Tornadoes hit central U.S., killing at least 30

CHICAGO, May 22 (Saba)- About 30 people are reported killed after a tornado tore through the city of Joplin in the US state of Missouri.

There are 24 fatalities after a tornado hit Joplin and number of injuries is unknown, reported the local newspaper Springfield News-Leader, citing a Springfield-Greene County emergency official. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has declared a state of emergency and warned more storms are on the way.
