Washington, May 14 (Saba) - The United States considered the rebel Interim Transitional National Council as the "legitimate and credible interlocutor of the Libyan people," a White House statement said, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Regime leader Colonel Moamer Gaddafi had "lost his legitimacy to rule" Libya, according to the statement issued following the meeting held here last night between the representative of the Libyan interim government, Mahmoud Jibril and the US national security advisor, Tom Donilon.
The statement further reiterated President Barack Obama''s call for him to "leave immediately." But no mention was made of any official recognition by the US of Libya''s interim government.
