United States supports Yemen's unity, stability, security

SANA'A, March 30 (Saba) - The United States of America confirmed on Wednesday its support for Yemen's unity, security and stability as well as its democratic approach.

The statement made by the American ambassador to Yemen Gerald M. Feierstein in a meeting that brought together with the Secretary-General of the General People's congress (GPC) Sultan al-Barakani.

At the meeting, Feierstein and al-Barakani reviewed mutual cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways of boosting them.

Moreover, they discussed developments in the political crisis over the national arena as ways to get out of this crisis to serve Yemen's interests and its people.

Feierstein stressed the importance to solve the recent crisis with peaceful methods, affirming his country's keenness on Yemen's unity, stability and security as well as its democratic approach.

The economic challenges facing the country are important as the current political challenges, Feierstein added.

The United States of America hopes to find quick solutions for the political crisis in order to be able to operate with all international friends to assist Yemen over fighting the challenges mainly in the filed of economy.

Previously, the United States confirmed that the current political impasse in Yemen will only be solved when all partners are to engage in a peaceful and serious dialogue.

For his part, Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs Philip Crowley called on all partners to participate in an open and transparent dialogue to deal with this crisis as well as discuss the legitimate concerns for all the Yemeni people to find the political
aspirations and economic developments of the Yemeni people.

"We believe this approach is the best to serve the interests of the Yemeni people," Crowley said.
