President Saleh receives Islamic preacher Amr Khaled

ADEN, Nov. 24 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh received Wednesday in Aden governorate Islamic preacher Amr Khaled.

Khaled is visiting Yemen currently to take part in launching the initiative of "Baldat Taybah" (Good Country), to be carried out in coordination with al Saleh Social Foundation for Development, the National Authority for Awareness, Right Start Foundation International (RSFI) and Life Makers Union, which aims to spread out moderation among youth of Yemen.

The President was briefed on the initiative, which includes one-year development programs to qualify Yemeni preachers and youth leaders from different governorates to spread moderation values in addition to implementing projects to guide youth to benevolent and goodness and to eradicate extremism as well.

Saleh praised the initiative and the efforts made to enlighten youth to moderation.

He underlined the necessity of preachers, educational and cultural institutions and civil society organizations to shoulder such significant role to safeguard youth from being extremists and terrorists.

Khaled hailed the enthusiasm and reaction of the Yemeni youths and the concerned bodies as well to succeed the initiative.

The Islamic preacher congratulates Yemen on hosting the great sport event, 20th Gulf Cup, which is an occasion to use the youths' powers in useful areas.
