Yemeni ambassador to IAEA delivers credentials

VIENNA, Sep.08 (Saba)-Yemen ambassador to the Federal Republic of Austria Abdul Hakim al-Iryani presented on Wednesday his credentials to Director General of the International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA) Yukiya Amano, as a permanent representative of Yemen to the IAEA.

At the meeting, al-Iryani commended the vital role played b the IAEA in the field of using nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and prevention of nuclear proliferation as well as the technical assistance provided by the agency to Yemen in the fields of health and agriculture and the prevention of radiation.

He confirmed Yemen's desire to avail from the agency's experiences to establish and equip centers for cancer treatment by radiation in all provinces of the country, as well as increasing training opportunities for Yemeni cadres in the fields of nuclear medicine ,agriculture, and radiation protection.

For his part, the IAEA's official noted to the distinct relations between the Agency and Yemen, and the agency role in establishing the first two centers for cancer treatment by radiation and for nuclear medicine in Yemen.

He affirmed that the Agency would continue to provide its support to Yemen in this field.
