17 killed, over 50 wounded in Pakistan suicide blast

ISLAMABAD, Sep. 7 (Saba) - At least seventeen people have been killed and more than fifty wounded, mostly women and children, in a huge suicide blast that took place in the cantonment area of Kohat town of Pakistan Tuesday evening, , Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) has reported.

Khalid Umerzai, Commissioner Kohat, talking to media, said that a suicide bomber exploded his explosive-laden vehicle in front of Police Headquarters.

Eyewitnesses and a local journalist from the Kohat town said that the explosion was so huge that it destroyed at least thirty residential quarters.

Rescuers said that at least fifty people are trapped under the quarters debris. Police sources confirmed at least seventeen casualties and said more than fifty wounded have been rushed to nearby hospitals.
