14 al-Qaida suspects arrested in Abyan

SANAA, Sept.05 (Saba)- Security services in Lawdar district in Abyan province have said that they arrested 14 suspected members of al- Qaeda during a sweeping operation in the district ,the State-run Sep26.net reported on Sunday.

The security services added that tracking and chasing of the terrorist elements would continue around the clock.

Four of al-Qaeda suspects were arrested in the security points, topped by the leader in al-Qaeda, Salah al-Dhabani, who was arrested last Saturday in Amshah points, the security services pointed out, stressing that the rest of them could not escape of the sweeping campaign.

At the same time, the security services expected that some of the terrorist elements would surrender themselves to the security bodies.

By the end of last month, Interior Ministry announced that the security forces purged the Lawdar district of al-Qaeda terrorists.

On August 20, deadly clashes erupted in Lawdar district and last for more than a week after killing 11 soldiers of the security forces in ambush by al-Qaeda militants.
